MEANWHILE, IN DICKINSON:

H. Scott Apley, Dickinson councilman and State Republican Executive Committee member, died Wednesday of complications from COVID-19. He was 45.
A GoFundMe page set up by a friend says Apley was hospitalized last Sunday, August 1st for symptoms of pneumonia. He tested positive for Covid, and was in such bad shape they had to put him on a ventilator right way. Three days later he was dead. He leaves behind a son who is still in diapers, and a wife who has also tested positive for the virus, but is not in the hospital.
Just two days before he showed up at the emergency room, Apley posted on Facebook making fun of the virus and the vaccine. He used these words:  “In six months, we’ve gone from ‘The vax ending the pandemic’ to ‘You can still get COVID even if vaxxed’ to ‘You can still pass COVID onto others even if vaxxed’ to ‘You can still die of COVID even if vaxxed’ to ‘The unvaxxed are killing the vaxxed,”
He posted many times regarding Covid and the vaccines. To sum it up as nicely as possible, he seemed to think that the virus wasn’t very serious, and the vaccine wasn’t very effective.  Wrong on both counts.
